As I start to write this it is Stardate -311469.42697234905..
a date to remember because it marks the launch of the Official Star Trek PADD app for iPad. For those who weren’t hooked on Jean-Luc Picard and his “Star Trek: The Next Generation” spacefarers PADD is a Personal Access Display Device.
The app was developed by a team of genuine Star Trek fans at CBS Mobile and ArcTouch, including Denise Okuda, who was a graphic artist and video/computer graphics supervisor on DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, Eric Shapiro, and Michael Okuda, who was a technical
consultant on TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise.
The Oficial Star Trek PADD app features a faithful reproduction of the original LCARS interface introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series and features access to the official Star Trek database on Star Trek.com which contains all sorts of interesting information about different aspects of the shows and films, from The Original Series up until Star Trek: Enterprise, such as aliens and alien worlds, ships, places, technologies, and episode guides. You can also access the Star Trek Facebook and Twitter feeds.
The Official Star Trek PADD app is $4.99 at the Apple App Store
