HP TouchPad Liquidation!..$100..SOLD OUT!

It looks like they are sold out pretty much everywhere. Anybody know if they are in stock anywhere? Let us know below.

So far it seems to be available only in Canada but, starting Saturday August 20  Best Buy, Future Shop, The Source, London Drugs, and Staples will be selling the 16GB HP TouchPad for $100, and the 32GB version for $150.

It’s not the world’s greatest tablet and with no support and no more app development it could be an iffy purchase..but if it fits your needs you can’t beat the price. You can bet someone will soon figure how to get Honeycomb running on this thing..then it becomes a really good deal. So if you are the adventurous type..what do you have to lose?

If you bought one recently..hopefully you are within either the return or price guarantee time limits..if so run don’t walk to your favourite store and claim your refund.

So far this deal seems to be only available in Canada..but I don’t think it will take to long to spread.

Honestly I have never seen anything quite like this..first for HP to bail on a product so soon after launch then to see the product liquidated like this. What do you think..will you buy one at this price? Comment below.

With very little apps and none coming,$100 bucks for a dead machine is pretty steep. Just keep the $100.00 and put it towards the ipad3 this Christmas.

True..but if you can hack it to get Honeycomb to run on it..hmmm. I don’t think we will see iPad 3 for Christmas..more for Valentine.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE! This isn’t aimed at people who are saving for the iPad, it’s aimed at the people interested in a tablet but refuse to pay over $100.

While it doesn’t have the iPad apps ecosystem. (Well it has some of them, Facebook, Twitter, Angry Birds, etc mostly the mainstream ones)

For $100 you get a good device for Web browsing, Facebook/Twitter, e-book reader, Magazines reader, YouTube, it has working Adobe Flash for non YouTube video sites, etc.

At $100 this is a steal! You couldn’t be any more wrong about the price being steep.

Let me know how it goes..was it busy at the store? How does he like his new $100 tablet?

      • William Lee August 20, 2011 at 11:33 AM #

I went to 6 stores this morning (the source, 3 bureau en gros, and future shop) and they were out of stock.
I was told by a sales person at Future Shop to still order it online even if it’s out of stock.
for 100 bucks it’s a steal.. still much cheaper than a kindle and more powerful.
I just ordered 2 from Best Buy (32 gb) and crossing my fingers that HP will send more stock to them in the next week or so.

Wow! That didn’t take long. At that price I am not surprised.

there is none in stock…was at the door at 9 am and they were sold out…future shop put them on sale last night…so we are disappointed..we couldn’t get it

Been trying to get one, but it seems like they’re sold out everywhere in my neck of the woods. Shame, as XDA Developers are working on an Android/Honeycomb port as we speak.

I am on vacation not near any of the mentioned stores, but The Source has them at that price, so heading there first thing. I will buy either size as I bet it will have Android in a week ir so!

Good luck finding one. Tried, Future Shop, Best Buy, 3 Bureau En Gros and 2 Sources. Nada.

Kirti: do what I did. If you really want one, your best bet is still to order it either online from Best Buy or Future Shop.
I got a confirmation from Best Buy in the last hour where they processed my order.
they mentioned that once stock is available, they will ship it to me.
AS always they will not bill your credit card until it’s been confirmed that shipment has been sent to addressee.

William Lee. Thanks for the tip but when I go to the websites of both Future Shop and Best Buy they both say Not available online

Found 2 of them for sale at Kijiji. Asking price is $250.00. Somebody is looking to make a quick buck.

According to the website Best Buy Greenfield Park has 32Gb units in stock. Future Shop shows sold out in Quebec and Ontario

  11. Kirti Patel August 21, 2011 at 3:33 PM #

I called up Best Buy Greenfield Park and nope, none left.

  12. William Lee August 21, 2011 at 4:24 PM #

I went to the LaSalle Best Buy this morning since the website listed 32gb models available. When I got there, they mentioned all sold out as of Friday.
Latest web news info mentions that Best Buy has decided to sell the original stock remaining that was supposed to go back to HP. The only thing is it can be only purchased at the store and it’s 1 unit per customer. The news also mentions that Best Buy may have done a disservice to their business in terms of selling there other tablets. Consumers will therefore be expecting bigger drops in price for the non ipad tablets before forking out their hard earned dollars.
\Kirti in reply to your earlier query, you can still try to order online. I noticed on the ref flag deals forum, there were some ppl still able to order one at Best Buy yesterday evening. Good luck.

This makes me wonder. The other tablets aren’t selling as well as the ipad. What would happen if Samsung/Blackberry,etc. dropped the prices and instead raised the prices for the apps. Would people go for this? The companies would take a loss on the tablets but would make some money back off the sale of the apps. It would beat having the tablets staying in stock in stores and collecting dust.

    Fascinating views regarding that!
