A new concept in digital magazines..will it work?

I have just finished browsing through The Collection a new “appzine” published by l”Hebdo.

To be published monthly in three languages simultaneously The Collection will focus on a single this first issue that topic is the British royal family, their history, and the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Using the interactive and video capabilities of the iPad The Collection does a pretty good, if superficial job of exploring the History of the Royal Family, prince William and the upcoming “Wedding”..there is even a countdown timer to the big day. Royal watchers will love it.

I will say the mix of videos, photos and animation does make it an entertaining package. But, at $4.99 per issue at the Apple App Store I’m not sure I would want to fork out that kind of money every month for a frothy look at a major event of the day.
