Cool new stuff from Samsung
Got a look at the newest tablets and notebooks from Samsung and let me tell you they have some impressive new stuff on the way in time for Back to School.
Let’s start with the new Galaxy Tab 3 series of tablet. They are lighter and faster than previous models and come in three flavours: 7 in for the ultimate in portability, 8 inch ideal for reading and media and the classic 10.1 in model is perfect for watching movies and TV. It is a great TV companion with it’s built in universal remote control and TV guide app.
I also saw a couple of interesting convertible devices..the ATIV Q a convertible Ultrabook with an interesting cantilevered hinge that allows it to be used as a notebook or a Windows Tablet..a bit heavy for my liking but a versatile device for the right application. More interesting is the little ATIV Tab 3 the merging of a Galaxy Tab 3 10.2 and a keyboard case that delivers a kind of netbook experience but is also a good tablet at the same time.
Samsung also showed off two 13.3″ Ultrabooks with touch screens..a ATIV Book 9 Lite a middle of the road Ultrabook with some interesting features and while not the thinnest kid on the block still a pretty good looking notebook especially for the student.
The star of the show was the ATIV Book 9 Plus. A really impressive top of the line Ultrabook thin as a whisper, light as a feather and better built than the previous model. Running Intel’s latest Haswel processor it sports a spectacular touch screen with a staggering 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution with amazing viewing angles both vertically and horizontally. It also has the best trackpad I have seen on a Windows notebook..as good as the Apple trackpad.
All ATIV devices feature SideSync, a cool app that allows the interaction of other Samsung products with the Samsung Galaxy S4. The idea is to allow for an easy transfer of files, media, and other content from the notebook to the mobile device and vice versa. You can navigate the mobile device using the ATIV 9’s keyboard and mouse as well as offer screen share involving bringing the mobile device’s screen to the enlarged notebook’s.
Have you ever seen a notebook screen that sharp!
I am testing the 7″ Tab 3 now and expect to get my hands on the other products shortly so watch for the reviews.
