Disasters! There’s an app for that

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has made us more aware of potential disasters and catastrophe related apps have soared to the top of the mobile app charts.

Disaster Alert a free app for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android. It features a map showing disaster warnings and alerts around the globe. Alerts cover the gamut from earthquakes, to tornados to snowstorms and the alerts often come in 20 to 30 minutes before it is reported in the media.

Once you have been warned of the disaster what do you do? Disaster Readiness is a $1.89 app for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android that provides a complete checklist of what to do in any type of disaster situation.
