Four Dr. Seuss books now available for Windows 8

How the Grinch Stole ChristmasIt didn’t take the folks at Oceanhouse Media long to start making its popular titles available for Windows 8 devices. The Dr. Seuss titles now available in the Windows Store include The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Lorax and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. The book apps run on Windows 8 PCs and tablets, working well with both mouse and touch.

“We’re thrilled to develop our award-winning Dr. Seuss book apps for Windows 8,” said Michel Kripalani, president of Oceanhouse Media. “Our book apps focus on helping children learn to read and the interactive features, such as word highlighting and picture/word association, truly enhance the reading experience.”

The book apps feature Dr. Seuss’s original text and illustrations combined with realistic sound effects, professional narration and custom background audio. In addition, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words zoom up and are spoken when pictures are touched. A new page selector allows readers to easily turn to any page within each book app.

“The Dr. Seuss book apps from Oceanhouse Media reimagine the classic children’s books for Windows 8,” said John Richards, senior director, Windows App Marketing for Microsoft Corp. “They provide a rich and engaging experience for children and adults alike. The apps are also a great way to build a library of interactive books.”

Three reading options included are Auto Play (geared toward younger readers), which plays like a movie by automatically reading and turning pages; Read To Me, which allows users to listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read; and Read It Myself, which lets users read the book in its traditional format.
