Google Nexus 7..pre-order now

It has arrived..the long rumoured Google Nexus 7 tablet will ship in a couple of weeks. It is according to Google the culmination of years of Android evolution.

The Nexus 7 comes with pretty solid specs.  It is a 7-inch tablet with a 1280 x 800 HD display with a pixel density of 216 pixels-per-inch, which is not much less than the  iPad 3 with its 264 pixels-per-inch screen density. The screen is covered with what Google calls  “scratch-resistant Corning glass” I assume is a form of Gorilla Glass.

Google’s new Tablet  is, as expected powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and comes with either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. The  4,325mAh battery provides up to 8 hours of active use. The Nexus 7 also features a front-facing 1.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a micro USB port and NFC. There is no rear facing camera. It will also be the first device to run Google’s next generation Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Nexus 7 competitively priced at $199 for the 8Gb model and $249 for the 16Gb version ($209 & $259 in Canada) looks like it will be a real contender in the Android tablet wars this year. You can pre-order it at the Google Play Store.
