i.TV — THE TV Listings app for TV buffs

IMG 0285 Now that the Olympics have ended TV fans can look forward to the fall TV season with its collection of great, could have been..or downright awful shows. How to keep track of this new bounty is the objective of i.TV  a TV Listings app for iOS and Android.

Setup of i.TV is simple Enter your postal or zip code, or using location services on your device, you are able to look up providers so that your details will be customized whether you have cable, satellite or an antenna. It took just two clicks to select my Satellite provider and package.

While i.TV isn’t alone in the field it certainly is the nicest looking of the bunch..the Shows menu allows you to browse a bunch of different categories..in this case we are looking at the Most Favorited category.

IMG 0294

No surprise Big Bang Theory..my current favourite is at the top..click on the icon and a tab slides in on the right with a whole bunch of information about the show. Most importantly where you can watch it..in this case on Hulu+ Netflix, On TV or iTunes.

IMG 0295

Click on one of the choices and in pops a complete listing with episode titles and a variety of options..record to Tivo for example..sadly no other DVR is supported.Netflix offers the choice to download the episode or add it to your queue.

IMG 0296

The listings section is attractive and versatile..it offers the choice of viewing all or selecting categories. If you click on a selection the information tab slides in from the side…oh did I tell you there is a tab to check into Facebook, Twitter or Google+ to tell the world what you are watching..well there is :)..You can also set alerts to remind you of upcoming shows you want to watch. IMG 0291 What more can you ask for from a TV Listings app..complete listings including non-TV sources, alerts, favourites and entertainment news all bundled in an attractive interface. Available for free on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. [ratingbox]

    Hi Bob,
Love this app! Great review. Are you able to get it to connect to Netflix in Canada? I didn’t think we had the Queue here.

    Thanks,

    John

      Hi John,
Thanks for the comment. The short answer is yes. I was able to log on from my Nexus 7 by clicking Add to queue..a logon box popped up. However the Android app doesn’t seem to have an instant queue but the web version does and my adds do appear. On the iPad it is a bit different..in order to get the Netflix logon box you have to click add to disk..a service that is not available in Canada. Once logged on my adds appear on the Instant Queue row on the iPad app..in my case he second row.
