International Startup Festival huge success!

The first International Startup Festival held this week at the Iberville Maritime Terminal in Montreal’s Old Port suceeded way beyond the organizers’ dreams. Over 1100 people attended the three day festival that brought together Startups, established developers and Venture Capitalists to talk about the business of starting up a new venture, how to finance it and how and when to exit and everything in between.

Full house for Stephan Ouaknine's Presentation on Shareholder Value

In was an opportunity for new startups..or someone with just an idea to pitch their vision to potential investors or anyone who would listen. More than just a series of seminars and presentations by startups it was an opportunity to network or just trade ideas or frustrations.

A dozen startups selected from 120 submissions got to present their ideas on the big stage, others set up demo tables in the corridor..I saw quite a few really interesting products that have just launched or are on the verge and I will be talking about some of them in the coming days and weeks.

It was an exciting two and a half days and I was really impressed at the dynamic Montreal startup community that is growing rapidly. Expect to see some exciting new products to come from the contacts made aty this festival.
