Love Free Music! Try raditaz
raditaz promises more than 14 million licensed tracks and will make money by pushing geolocated advertisements to listeners, both audio and visual. However I have been using it for over a week and I have yet to see or hear an ad. The service also promises unlimited skips, plus the ability to create channels based upon hashtags, and to follow “trending” channels near the user. For example, a user can create a “#beach” channel. You can’t select a specific song or album. Instead you type in the name of a favourite musician or band and it creates an unlimited playlist based on that artist. Type in Sarah McLachlan for example and you’ll get a mix of Sarah McLachlan songs and others that match her style and genre. You can also select a whole bunch of generic stations such as top hits, love songs or classic rock.
I found the raditaz interface a bit eclectic but it works well..simple to choose stations and search for other people’s favourite stations..I found some new music I liked that way. For example, when you create a new station, your station is automatically assigned geographical coordinates so other users can find your station in our map view or when browsed on our explore page. You also can apply tags to your custom stations (@home, #running #beach) to better define your station. Looking for something new to listen to at the gym? The tagging feature allows you to browse tags based on keywords, you can view what is trending in your community or discover new music based on the things you like to do. According to the map I seem to be the only user to have created a station in my neighbourhood.
The audio quality is excellent and I had no problems with quality on my PC, Android phone and iPad. Good looking cover art seems to be available for most tracks..although it hasn’t been scaled to the smartphone screen very well. Where there is no cover art you will see Raditaz’s psychedelic background.
raditaz is a good app to add to your PC Bookmarks, or download it for free at the Android Market or the Apple App Store. I think you will like it..the price is certainly right and as I mentioned I haven’t seen any ads yet.
