My iPad 2 enters the workplace..with some help from Logitech

During the year and a half I have owned my iPad-iPad2 it has been a fun companion for consuming content..watching movies, surfing the web and checking email. It has not been an especially productive device. Until now..that is..

Here I am writing this blog sitting outside using my iPad 2 with the Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad iPad 2 is now a decent netbook or light duty notebook replacement.

The Logitech Keyboard by ZAGG packs a huge punch for its 325 gram (11.5oz) weight. It changes the personality of the fun loving iPad into a productive working companion. It took mere seconds to pair the Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad 2 and I was in business typing this blog.

The keyboard is a real keyboard with keys that move with a good feel. It is netbook size which may be a problem for some with bigger hands but worked fine for my small hands. The top row of keys feature specialized iPad 2 controls..a home button, a Spotlight Search hot key, a Picture Gallery key that instantly launches a slide show of pictures stored on the iPad 2, cut/copy/paste controls,  play/pause/fast-forward/rewind buttons and volume control  for multimedia apps and a sleep/wake button . I found the cut and paste functions really helpful..holding down the shift key and using the arrow keys is a much easier way to highlight text for moving or copying than using a finger on the screen. You can use the iPad 2 in either landscape or portrait mode and it is a secure stand even if you are not using the keyboard.

The keyboard doubles as a case..the iPad 2 snaps face down held in and protected by a layer of rubberized foam with bumpers to keep the screen away from the keyboard buttons. It is a nice looking combination with its brushed aircraft grade aluminum this case looks like it is part of the iPad 2. I am however. concerned that the back of the iPad 2 is unprotected therefore susceptible to scratching. I keep the combo in a bag for travelling but for some of you this may be a concern.

This collaboration between Logitech and ZAGG has resulted in a terrific product that will change the way you use your iPad 2. The Logitech Keyboard  Case for iPad 2 is $99.99 and  available in most places Logitech products are sold (except in Quebec because the keyboard is available in US English only), soon from the Logitech Store or from ZAGG
