Need door to door directions? HopStop is the way to go

One of the easiest ways to get from A to B HopStop will be great for iOS 6 and iPhone 5 users who depended on Google Maps for walking or transit directions ¬†and it’s free for Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

HopStop is based on a website that provides directions for just about every option you could think of..bus, subway, bike, even estimates taxi fares..the web site is great for planning at home or the office but the real value of HopStop is in the mobile applications.

The app uses the phone’s built in Location service to determine your starting point..all you have to do is enter your can use your phone’s address book.. and tell the app how you want to get there..bus, walking..whatever and HopStop comes up with precise directions that are so specific it is impossible to get lost..there are even maps to guide you through the walking parts of the trip. If you have activated the Smart Route feature the app will give you the choice of a number of routes.

HopStop also lets you look up schedules for local my case it provided Subway and commuter train schedules as well as showing the closest transit stops on a map.

HopStop is a must have app..I tested it in Montreal and Toronto and directions were extremely accurate..except for taxi fares which were off by quite a bit in some cases. The app is very fast on an iPhone 4S as well as a HTC One S. Currently HopStop provides directions for over 70 metropolitan areas in Canada, The US and overseas and more are being added on a regular basis. Download this free app..there are ads at the bottom of the screen…for Android, iOS and Windows Phone from the appropriate store. There is also a mobile web app with most of the features for devices for which a native app is not available.
