New Calendar app boosts my iPad 2’s notebook replacement cred

Regulars will remember how I upgraded my iPad 2 into a pretty credible notebook replacement with the Logitech Keyboard Case. The good folks at Vancouver based Advsoft sent me a copy of their latest  version of  CalPad and it really boosts the utility of my iPad 2.

Think of Cal Pad as a grown up version of the built-in Calendar app. It is loaded with features that help keep you organized. Multiple colour coded calendars for different kinds of activities that can be set to display all in one view..or not.

The Task Manager is intuitive, allows the assignment of resources to the task and set deadlines but, what I find really helpful is the Smart Task Scheduler that shows you options for scheduling tasks in a busy time line based on specific rules…even more helpful a checklist can be attached to every task. Plus a timer can be attached to every task and time spent will be logged.

Everything including tasks and notes can be displayed in landscape view and you can drag and drop items anywhwere. I find that is the most intuitive way to re-organize my schedule.

I could go on for hours talking about the various features..suffice it to say if there is a feature you would like in a Calendar app CalPad likely has it.

If you are using your iPad/iPad 2 as a business tool then this is a must have app for you..the busier you are the more helpful you will find CalPad. The down looks a bit expensive at $9.95. I thought it was too..but after trying it out I think it is worth the price. Get it at the Apple App Store
