Texting while you do it?

In June of 2010 Canadians sent 154 million text messages per day. This according to the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) which also reports we sent 25.7 billion text messages in the first half of 2010. How many of those messages were sent from behind the wheel? Too many I’ll bet.

There is a growing number of texters who would never drink and drive but think nothing of texting behind the wheel. Studies show that you are 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident if you are texting while driving yet it doesn’t get the same kind of attention as drinking and driving. Perhaps we should be thinking about a designated texter.

AT&T has decided it is time to do something about this dangerous practice and has released this powerful video ¬†featuring stories from individuals whose lives have been altered by texting while driving. Take a look and share it, you may save someone’s life.
