The best Windows PC is a Mac
This shocking finding comes from Soluto, a cloud-based PC-services company that helps people manage and troubleshoot their computers, The company has just released its first PC Purchasing Guide for Small Businesses which has the MacBook Pro 13 Mid 2012 (non Retina) as the best Windows PC.
Soluto examined frustration events such as application crashes, application hangs, blue-screens-of-death, long boot times and excessive number of background processes. The company chose a sample of 150,000 laptops in the real world and analyzed their data between January 1st, 2013 and April 1st, 2013. The test evaluated 5 parameters.
Soluto suggests it’s methodology is better than Review sites and other top-PC lists that are usually based on a combination of hands-on review for a few days and/or benchmarking software that stresses the PC to its limits. In this report, on the other hand, Soluto claims it brings you real data about ongoing PC performance “in the field” – used by real people under real conditions.
When all the hangs, reboots and BSoDs were counted the MacBook Pro 13 emerged as the top Windows PC
An Acer that by the way sells for about a third of the price of the MacBook Pro laptop was a close second followed by the first of 5 Dells in the top 10. Interestingly, HP, Asus and Samsung are nowhere to be found in this list.
One takeaway from all this is based on the fact that all installations on Macs are by necessity clean and free of crapware. Perhaps manufacturers should be looking to distinguish their PCs by producing stable, reliable and clean PCs instead of using junk and sample software to distinguish their offerings from the competition.
