The Royal Tour. Naturally there’s an app

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge..Prince William and Kate Middleton to most of us..arrive in Canada in two days and the Federal Government is pulling out all the stops. The Depatment of Canadian Heritage has just  released an iPhone app and a Web app for other smartphones.

It is part of a social media strategy aimed at keeping the Royal family relevant to a new generation of Canadians. It is a pretty good effort at that. The apps are clean and will serve as a good resource for everything to do with the Royal tour.

The apps contain the full day-by-day itinerary by city, there  are photos from their Flickr page. As well you can send postcards, and share on Twitter and Facebook

If you are planning to follow William and Kate in their travels across Canada then this is the app for you. Get the iPhone app at the Apple App Store and the web app for other smartphones is available here. Both are free.
