Let’s start out with full disclosure..despite a 35 year career in television I have no artistic talent..stick drawings are pretty much my limit. Still I was quite amazed at what I could do with Snap Art imagine what someone with talent could do.

Snap Art 3

Snap Art 3 s a natural media plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop Lightroom. It comes from the creative workshops of Alien Skin Software long in the business of producing cool graphics software. Snap Art 3 is aimed at professional photographers and graphic designers, but even no-talent types like me can produce some pretty amazing art from a photograph. The developer says Using Snap Art just requires a creative idea, not hand-eye coordination or technical training. Simply choose from hundreds of styles such as oil paint, watercolor, pencil sketch, or the new crayon. If you need more control, the new detail mask let’s you quickly mark areas where you want the subject to be clearer.

Now, I could go into great detail about Snap Art 3 but Alien Skin’s web page is loaded with detail and comprehensive tutorials so I will simply show you some samples of what I was able to do with the Windows version.

I tested the Windows and OS X versions with Photoshop Elements and found I was able to get pretty good looking results by just following the was made all the simpler by the fact the controls are clear and easy to understand.

I found the interface to be attractive and intuitive and the layout is easy to understand.  Snap Art 3 puts a huge range of painting and drawing effects at your fingertips quickly and easily. But, with a $199 price tag Snap Art 3 is not a toy, this is a serious plug in for those looking for high quality results.
