WiXi..WiFi and Bixi..Free all summer in Montreal

The TELUS Wi-Xi squad will hit the streets of Montreal starting today. The squad will visit various popular public places throughout the summer to give Montrealers free access to TELUS’s powerful 4G LTE network.

The BIXI bike, decked out in TELUS colours, is transformed into a Wi-Fi access point thanks to the TELUS Wi-Xi, a 4G LTE modem which is linked to a battery that is recharged by pedal power.

A TELUS innovation, the TELUS Wi-Xi allows up to 10 users per bike to connect to TELUS’s powerful 4G LTE network.  Here is the WiXi squad’s schedule for July:

  • Friday July 6, 2012 Vieux-Port de Montréal
  • Saturday July 7, 2012 Parc Lafontaine
  • Sunday July 8, 2012 Quartier Latin
  • Friday July 13, 2012 Parc Jean-Drapeau
  • Saturday july 14, 2012 During Loto Québec Fireworks (On rue Notre-Dame)
  • Sunday July 15, 2012 McGill and Concordia Campus
  • Saturday July 21, 2012 Parc Laurier and Parc Lafontaine
  • Saturday July 28, 2012 Parc Jean-Drapeau
  • Check for up to date schedule at http://montreal.bixi.com/about-bixi/news
TELUS is a major sponsor of  the Bixi program and for the second year in a row, the company will contribute $1 for each BIXI subscription, for up to a total of $50,000, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
